Reflection of Experiments

My adventure from the spring until August was selling two houses and building a new one on the NW side of town so that my son could go to the same school that I teach at. Now that we are in our house and both old houses have sold I feel I can finally give a sigh of relief. It was a choice to sell our houses that was long over due. We had the conversation many times and I can't believe how well it turned out. We love our new and location. We could not have done everything we did this summer if it wasn't for our family. It was a wonderful experience for both myself, my husband and most importantly my son. The strong bond between my in laws and my son just got even stronger. Surprisingly it was a wonderful experience for us as well. We learned a lot more from taking on our adventure then we ever could have imagined. I do understand more how scary it can be to try new things, so when I ask my students to try something new I will encourage and support them.

Summer Adventure

My summer adventure was taking the leap to putting our rental house on the market to sell. We have had it rented since 2008 with no gaps, so we definitely were in a comfort zone. There were so many things to worry about, double mortgage, what if it sells after school starts, etc. We finally decided to sell it and we had to wait for our tenants to move out on the last day of June. We got it market ready from July 1-16, listed July 17 and an offer July 21. We got everything we wanted out of it, no contingency, no closing cost that we would need to pay and shockingly he wanted to close Aug. 1st!! He wanted things to move so fast and have it off the market he waved the inspection contingency! So, on August 1st we will have sold our 2nd house of the year (within the last 4 months) and be closing on our new house. August 1st just so happens to be our 5 year anniversary as well. So, glad we bit the bullet and sold our previous houses! Looking forward to less stress and moving day:)
